Four Sudbury dancers to represent country

When Lauren Babcock Rimore went to the Team Canada dance auditions in Mississauga, she wasn’t sure she’d make the cut. While the 16-year-old Sudbury resident has danced since she was three, the auditions were intimidating and few dancers are ever chosen from Northern Ontario.

Dancing for the world

When Team Canada takes the stage at the World Dance Championships in Poland this December, three local dancers will a part of the competition — the first Sudbury dancers to do so. Ida Sauve Dance Evolution Studio students Lauren Babcock-Rimore, Aglaia Florentis, Michelle Valliant and Taryn Leach were all successful in their auditions to be a part of Team Canada in various disciplines, including ballet, jazz, modern, and tap.

Dancers among nation’s best

Two of the five Northern Ontario dancers selected for the National Ballet School’s summer program come from Sudbury. Both Jadon Pascal Van Alphen, 10, and Emma Oderkirk, 12, are part of Ida Sauve Dance Evolution’s elite core of competitive soloists.

Young professionals hand out awards

Recipients of the 2010 Young Professionals Association Awards were announced at the YPA Gala that was held Nov. 9 at the S.R.O. Nightclub. The 3 finalists distinguished them- selves amongst numerous nominees for this year’s 3rd annual awards gala.
